A Day of Firsts

We had two "firsts" today! But will stick with one for now and I'll post about the other one later. First, the first first...
Oh, wait a minute...how about a last, first? Karen Kingsbury has a poem in one of her books in the Redeption series about "lasts." It insightfully points out how we notice all the firsts, but we often don't notice, because we didn't know they were...the lasts. But today I caught a last. Today, Brandy was home for lunch and getting ready to leave. Tye bounds in the house and says, "Before you leave you need to take off my training wheels!" Well, alrighty then!

So on the way down to the machine shed, where the tools are, I caught a last...with training wheels...

Then a first! He did so awesome! His training wheels have been higher than ground level so he had it pretty down pat except for turns. He took right off on his own without warning or help with balance! His second turn he wiped out...and was very upset and not getting back on. But helmet, knee pads, and elbows pads later, and a little help from Dad, and off he took again! He practiced a lot this afternoon and now is just about a pro!

Way to go, Tye!!
