Happy (belated) Thanksgiving!

It was great to have a long weekend. I hope everyone had a good chance to count their blessings this Thanksgiving. Sierra and Shianne had their annual feast of the Pilgrims and Native Americans at school. The Kindergarteners are the Native Americans (Sierra pictured below), and the 1st and 2nd graders are Pilgrims. Sierra's Native American name was "Red Rose." I think that suits her! Shianne didn't get to take her costume home, but she did wear a dress to school...which is very unusual for her! But she didn't want to wear pants and be a boy pilgrim.

The next two pictures are of our family's tradition on Thanksgiving morning. We sit down to cinnamon rolls for breakfast and share what we're thankful for. We each write our names in a journal that we keep just for this occasion. We then each get 5 kernals of corn. As we take turns saying what we're thankful for, we put one kernal into a basket or dish. It's great to look back at past years to see what we were thankful for then. Posted by Picasa
