Dad's Treatment
Well, Dad had his first Chemo treatment Wednesday. He had a 3 hour treatment, then they sent him home with a pack that keeps adding chemo for 48 hours. Wednesday he did well, although a little tired. Thursday he worked part of the day. Friday he went to a local hospital to get his pack off, or his "snake" as he calls it. It hisses when it's injecting medicine into his port, and snakes are poisonous, and so is chemo, so it fits! Except this is poison that hopefully saves at the same time it's poisoning you.
After that on Friday he went to work. The way I understand it, about noon on Friday he started to get nauseous, and took medicine. By 4:30 Friday afternoon, he was quite nauseous, and beyond exhausted, so he went home. He then took a more expensive med, and laid down. The nauseousness thankfully got better. What he's struggling with is the extreme exhaustion. Even walking the short distance from the barn to the house seems overwhelming.
Today he's still extremely tired, but it helps if he doesn't try to do anything. Last I heard he also had a headache.
The next 6 months seem like a very long time right now. Please pray that the symptoms pass quickly, he can feel good between treatments, and that the symptoms don't get any worse. God is good! He'll carry him through.

Know that we are praying - that is not easy or fun!
Carey, Please know that your dad is in my prayers; chemo is such a monster but so is cancer. Sometimes you wonder if you are jumping out of the frying pan into the fire. I will continue to pray that God heals your dad, with or without the chemo (without preferrably...) but either way. The time does seem long I'm sure but I pray that the outcome, after all the sickness and exhaustion and poison, is that your dad is back to himself again at the end of all this. God is good - he has a plan, a much better plan than ours even though it is so hard to see and understand that at times. Hang in there - I'll see you a week from tomorrow - let's pray for your dad together then. Until then, love and peace on your heart and soul. Tell mom and dad hello from me and let them know they are being thought of and prayed for. Love, Janelle
